Warm Winter scheme

The Warm Winter Scheme supports people in Nelson who are struggling to pay for winter heating costs. The scheme is solely funded by the generosity of local people.

In 2018, Community Action Nelson (CAN) saw an opportunity with the Winter Energy Payment. MSD allocate this supplementary assistance to everyone on a pension. Many people receiving this payment, felt that they didn't need it and that it would be better used if it was redistributed to those most in need. CAN made this idea a reality by partnering with Nelson Budget Service. Every year, generous people have been donating to the Warm Winter Scheme and those funds have been used to help people who are really struggling to afford to stay warm.

We appreciate every donation! Your support makes a huge difference to families/whanau and individuals who are struggling to afford to keep their homes warm.
